Sept. 12 SF County commissioners-to-be concerned about O&G drilling (Podcast)

SANTA FE (2008-09-12) -- Two soon-to-be members of the Santa Fe County Commission say they're concerned about oil and gas drilling. The comments come as a citizens group keeping an eye on the prospect of oil and gas drilling in Santa Fe County has released results of a survey of voter attitudes about that question.

The group is named the El Dorado Gas and Oil Team. They randomly selected 500 people for an in-person survey of 10 questions about drilling. Numbers of respondents, randing from 5 to 31 percent of them, said they were not sure or uncertain how to answer some of the questions.

But overall, the survey shows that the vast majority of Santa Fe County residents oppose oil and gas drilling. Doug Stewart of El Dorado put the survey and the survey team together. He's a professional pollster. I spoke with him about the survey and some of the findings.

Stewart had put together a meeting of county residents and two soon-to-be members of the Santa Fe County Commission.

Kathy Holian is running unopposed for a seat on the commission from District 4, and the same for Liz Stefanics in District 5 . We talked after the meeting about how they'll approach the job of creating an oil and gas drilling ordinance for SF County.
